Attack On Villagers in Mali

On Sunday, March 24, there was an attack on a village in Mali.  There's was a group of armed men that were "dressed as traditional hunters"  that went and killed 134 people.  In addition to the 134 people killed, there was another 55 people who were hurt in Ogossogou.  "The Malian government said it 'reiterates its determination to make every effort to hunt down the perpetrators of this barbarity of another age and to punish them, in accordance with the laws in force...In the same spirit, the government will continue to ensure the protection of the people, to recreate the conditions of true social cohesion and to promote national reconciliation,' it added, saying the 'government condemns with the utmost severity this heinous act and expresses its compassion to the families of the innocent victims."

Journalist Shot Dead

Thursday January 17, 2019 a journalist who uncovered corruption in soccer in Ghana was shot dead. Hussein-Suale, the journalist, worked for Tiger Eye PI, which was an investigative journalism organization. Hussein-Suale had been receiving death threats after he published work on a documentary that exposed bribery and corruption in the African soccer organization. Hussein-Suale's investigation on the organization lead him to the resignation of the head of the Ghana Football Association.
